The Concordia Experience
What distinguishes a Concordia College education?
The Concordia Experience: five pillars wrapped in a nurturing, faith-based environment. The Concordia Experience is based on a core curriculum focused on the liberal arts, and culminates in a capstone project that shows everyone you’re ready for the next level – whether that's beginning your career or continuing your education.
The five pillars of the
CONCORDIA EXPERIENCE
1. The Core
Explore the perspectives and develop skills that only a liberal arts core curriculum can provide for a strong learning foundation. We call this critical preparation the Concordia Core.
2. Focused Major
Hone your interests, develop a study emphasis, and select a major from one of several dynamic programs Concordia has to offer. Our advisors and mentors will map your individualized graduation plan.
3. Electives
Here’s where you can enhance and refine your studies at Concordia by selecting courses that complement your major. Choose the classes you want that support your major, broaden your interests – or both.
4. Experiential Learning
Every Concordia student participates in learning outside the classroom. Internships, fieldwork, study abroad, service learning and more are how at Concordia, experience counts.
5. The Capstone
The Concordia Experience culminates with a capstone project that represents the sum of your learning. This crowning achievement may take the form of a presentation, writing or research project.

AND BEYOND
Experiential Learning is one of the most important components of the Concordia Experience. The real world experiences beyond the classroom impart deeper understanding and practical application of skills and knowledge.
We want you to immerse yourself in the subject matter. That might mean going abroad for a hands-on research project, or venturing into a New York City learning lab where the opportunities for discovery are as big as the city itself. These engaging experiences not only spark deeper learning, but help you develop your passion, find your purpose, and offer your service.
