Designed for young children and their caregivers, this family-style class fosters music development, memory, and rhythm skills through a diverse collection of songs. The class includes music, books, drama, dance, and chant, ensuring that everyone is physically and musically engaged.

Younger students are placed in the 9:30 am class and older students in 10:15 am class. Siblings will be placed together in the appropriate class. This program is designed for infants through pre-K.

Morning Session 9 am - 12 pm

Beginning Strings

Beginning strings is designed for students who have little or no prior experience in music. It serves as an introduction to playing a stringed instrument, such as the violin, viola, cello, or bass. Throughout the program, students will engage in a group setting and full ensemble sessions.

Folk String Traditions

This program explores string folk music from around the world including the blues, Celtic fiddling, Klezmer and more. Focus will be on learning tunes by ear, while improvising in a variety of styles. At least one year of private lessons is required. Open to string instruments—violin, viola, cello and bass.

Guitar Club

Guitar Club offers guitarists of all levels the opportunity for real immersion and growth in a friendly environment. In this program, students will participate in ensembles and group classes while experiencing the fundamentals of technique. Come learn new repertoire through a reinvigorated sense of focus, and greater confidence in making music on guitar.

Piano Workshop: Bach to Rock

This workshop is a unique opportunity to focus on piano study in a creative and motivating atmosphere. Everyone is welcome from beginning to advanced. The combination of group theory, musicianship, improvisation and games, as well as solo and 4 & 8 hands piano repertoire, students will improve their skills while enjoying time with their peers.

Songwriting & Composition

Composing new music feels like writing a story, painting a picture, and taking a photograph all at the same time. During this songwriting & composition program, composers will be guided through a rigorous study of compositional techniques and theoretical training while helping develop an initial composition idea thoroughly, culminating in a performance at the end of each session.

Afternoon Session 12 pm - 4 pm

Chamber Music

Playing music is always more fun in a group ensemble. Join us for this exciting program to play music with others and create an experience as a budding musician. Groups will be placed by level and age, and will be performing a variety of music including classical, pop, and contemporary. One year of private instruction is required.

Vocal Arts / Cabaret

Vocal Arts / Cabaret is open to middle and high school singers. Participants will receive daily instruction in singing, acting, movement and staging. Students will be featured in a cabaret of music from The Great American Songbook.

Rock & Jazz Band

Rock and Jazz Band is perfect for students who want to rock out with friends! Students will learn to play tunes from some of the greatest bands of the last 40 years and showcase their skills in a live performance. Playing in a band can help foster a love for music that most of our students didn’t even know they had. Rock Band students must have at least one year of private lesson experience on any instrument.

Piano Workshop: Melody Makers

In this program children explore music through songs, rhythmic rhymes, movement, and instrument play. These activities are intentionally informal and non-performance-oriented, emphasizing enjoyable musical experiences conducive to children's development. The program encourages participation and creativity in a supportive environment tailored to children's needs and interests.

Musical Theatre

"Finding Nemo"

Our Musical Theatre program is a highlight of the summer, offering participants the opportunity to dive into the magical world of musical theater. From acting and singing to dancing and stagecraft, students will explore a wide range of theatrical techniques under the guidance of our experienced instructor, Grace Smyth. This 2-week program concludes with a performance of "Finding Nemo" on the last day. Students will have the chance to showcase their talents and hard work to family and friends, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Students will experience a fun-filled introduction to the world of instruments where they will have hands-on experience with piano, ukulele, violin and drums. Each day students will be guided through engaging activities and games centered around particular instruments, providing an immersive introductory experience.

Academy

This audition-only offering, open to advanced middle and high school singers and instrumentalists, expands upon the model of the Conservatory’s Honors Academy. Students will receive training in music theory, ear training, performance practice, chamber music ensembles for instrumentalists, and vocal scenes for singers.

Policy Information

Concordia Conservatory welcomes students of all ages, abilities, race, nationalities and ethnic origins.

Deposit
A non-refundable deposit of $150 is due at the time of registration.

Payment
Summer program tuition is due by June 1, 2023. Private Lesson tuition is due at the time of registration.

Withdrawals & Refunds
Tuition is fully refunded if a student withdrawals before the first date of the session. All withdrawal requests must be made in writing to the Conservatory Director. Verbal requests cannot be accepted.

Rolling Registration
Registration will be accepted throughout the summer on a space-available basis only and pro-rated.

Credit Card Charges
Concordia Conservatory offers payment by credit card (Amex, Visa, MasterCard and Discover). All cash payments must be made directly to  the Executive Director or Director.

Return Check Fee
There is a $25 fee for returned checks.

Photos & Video
Conservatory students (or their parents/guardians, if student is under 18) grant permission to Concordia Conservatory to use photographs and/or video of the students in publications, news releases, online, and in other communications related to the mission of the Conservatory. If you wish to opt out of this practice, please communicate that in writing to Marilou Yacoub at myacoub@concordiaconservatory.org.
