Concordia College New York held a press conference and ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, March 9 at 11 am at 884 Newfield Avenue, Stamford celebrating the opening of Concordia Conservatory Stamford. The Conservatory, a community music school and a division of Concordia College New York, is located at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Stamford Mayor David Martin, Mayor of Tuckahoe, NY Steve Ecklond, Concordia President Dr. John A. Nunes, Concordia Conservatory Executive Director Kathleen Suss and St. John’s Pastor Duane Pederson spoke at the press conference.
Since 1977, Concordia Conservatory has been known for its high quality music offerings in early childhood, youth and adult students and is committed to bringing the arts to all people regardless of age, ability, ethnic origin or financial situation, and will serve as a music education resource for the Fairfield County community. Staffed with a highly accomplished faculty, offerings include private music instruction in all instruments including voice, group and chamber music instruction, music theory, ear-training, composition and song writing, early childhood music classes, chamber music series, and an honors pre-college music program. Kathleen Suss serves as its 20-year Executive Director.
This opening of this campus also allows Concordia to join a thriving arts environment in Stamford and Fairfield County. A division of Concordia College New York, the Conservatory’s mission is to inspire, instruct and enrich lives through music, offering excellence in education and performance.
