Dr. Alison Matika

Assistant Professor of English

Dr. Matika comes to Concordia College English Studies with more than two decades of teaching experience, including positions at City College of New York, Mercy College, New York University, Yale University, Columbia University, and Yeshiva University. She received her B.A. in English from the University of Pittsburgh, her M.A. from the Bread Loaf School of English, Middlebury College, her teaching credential from the University of Texas at Austin, and her M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in English Education from Teachers College, Columbia University. Her research interests include: spectatorship of film violence, mindful teaching and learning in writing classrooms, and the integration of the creative, critical, philosophical, and practical in English teaching. She lives on the Upper West Side of Manhattan with her husband, Glenn, and their twins Henry and Margo.
